Hey everyone, Ester here! Welcome to my blog!
I’m obsessed with music, traveling and photographing my experiences. So, I thought why not share these with the rest of the world, and maybe even inspire some people to do the same! I’ll try my best to update weekly to my blog with my favorite and new-found music pieces with reviews, traveling stories as well as the photos I took!
Make sure to follow me on Instagram for more updates. Feel free to give recommendations about what I should post or ask me questions in the discussion section below. I’ll try my best to read and answer them all!
A common question that I get asked quite often is “why did you change your style from classical to jazz?”. The answer is simple, I love improvisation. Jazz music has always been a fascination for me but I didn’t think I would play it myself. I was so overwhelmed with preparing repertoire for competitions and concerts during my bachelor studies. After I graduated, I wanted to give jazz music a try. I am pretty sure that at the beginning, I sounded like a child who pretends to speak a foreign language. Nevertheless, I absolutely loved it. Improvising and interacting with the music fascinated me, it was an experience that I never felt before when I played my classical repertoire. So, in a very short period of time I made my decision to be a jazz performer and started to prepare for auditions of jazz schools. I was lucky to be accepted in Santa Cecillia Conservatory on jazz performance. There, I worked with great musicians and met many gifted students. You can drop by on Fridays to Mississippi Jazz Club and see us play!
I still play classical music too. Surprisingly, learning about jazz music, made me see a lot of new things in my classical repertoire. Especially when I play Bach, I started to realize how beautiful the melodies and progressions are. How carefully the voice leading is handled. It truly evolved my perspective on music, that is why I am glad that I started to learn jazz.
Here is an album that I discovered obsessed recently. Next week I will write a review about it. So don’t forget to subscribe for to be informed when it’s up. Ciao!
